Mental Health and Addiction Housing and Support for Adults
LOFT Adult Services offers a range of housing and support services for men and women 16 to 64 with mental health issues, substance abuse challenges and homelessness or the risk of homelessness. As is the case with all LOFT programs, our Services for Adults are recovery oriented and responsive to the needs of each individual. We believe that each person deserves the opportunity to grow and change and we respect the right of each individual to control the course of his or her life. Participation in LOFT programs is always voluntary.
High Support Housing for Clients with Moderate to Severe Challenges is offered for individuals whose serious mental health issues, or other complex challenges, prevent them from living independently or whose circumstances mean that a higher level of support is most appropriate at this time. These programs provide 24-hour staffing and crisis management, intervention and prevention. Where it is best for clients, some programs offer meal service and personal support for the activities of daily living. For more information please see McEwan Housing and Support Services, Mental Health & Justice Initiative, Mount Dennis Supported Housing Services, Wilkinson Housing and Support Services and St. George House.
Medium and Low Support Housing and Independent Apartments are available to serve the needs of clients whose challenges may be less demanding or who respond best to an independent or nearly independent living environment. This housing may be in individual apartments in the community or in a LOFT owned or operated apartment building. Alternatively, it may be in one of LOFT’s shared houses, where residents live together and manage their home cooperatively while they relearn and develop the skills of independent living. For more information please see McEwan Housing and Support Services, Mental Health & Justice Initiative, Wilkinson Housing and Support Services, in York Region see Crosslinks Housing and Support Services, and in South Simcoe County see Support Housing Services – South Simcoe Hub.
Community Re-Integration Services are offered to individuals who have been hospitalized and find themselves unable to be discharged. This can happen, for example, if they were homeless prior to entering hospital, or have been in hospital for an extended period during which they have lost their housing. LOFT offers specialized transitional housing, including intensive, individualized support services, so people can safely return to living in the community. For more information please see Crosslinks Housing and Support Services in York Region and Wilkinson Housing and Support Services in Toronto.
Support Services are offered in response to the needs of the client population served by each program. These services may include case management, system navigation, life coaching, crisis management, referrals to additional health care and social services, and assistance with the activities of daily living. All LOFT programs have active social and community building programs that improve quality of life for our clients and encourage the development of communities of mutual support within our various programs and facilities.
