Giving Tuesday 2019 is on TUESDAY DECEMBER 3RD!
As the holidays approach, it’s so easy to get caught up in all the shopping and festivities—but Giving Tuesday, a global day for giving and volunteering, reminds us what the holidays are truly all about.
Giving Tuesday is on Dec. 3, 2019 and we’re joining countless other organizations to raise funds for critical programming. This year, your generous donations on this day will help us fund our mental health and addictions programs for youth, as well as counselling programs we’ve recently established at the University of Toronto, Ryerson University, George Brown College and OCAD University. These vital programs are life-changing.
“I learned to love and respect myself and I learned that I was very, very resilient,” says Cassandra, a former LOFT client who lives with borderline personality disorder. “I went from barely surviving to thriving.” Today, Cassandra is working in the social services field, helping to support youth who are struggling like she once did.
Toronto is facing a growing youth mental health crisis. In a recent Toronto District School Board census, 40 per cent of Grade 12 students reported low well-being. And youth mental health and addiction hospitalizations in Toronto are at an all-time high—in fact, the number of discharges for these conditions doubled between 2007 and 2017.
When you donate to LOFT on Dec. 3, your donation in support of youth mental health will go twice as far thanks to an anonymous donor who will match all donations we receive up to $10,000. Please donate this Giving Tuesday to help support youth in our community.
Please help 300 Youth vulnerable youth will receive the care and housing they need to overcome trauma and homelessness.
