Wilkinson Housing and Support Services
Wilkinson Housing and Support Services provides high and low support housing and support services for people living independently in the community, in downtown Toronto and North York, for individuals who are dealing with mental health issues. Twenty-four hour crisis support is provided to all Wilkinson service users.
Clients face many challenges, including homelessness, substance abuse, isolation, loneliness and few opportunities for employment, all of which contribute to the barriers they have experienced as they have struggled to live successfully in the community.
The Wilkinson staff is committed to assisting individuals in making whatever changes in their lives would offer them dignity and safety. Assessment, goal setting, skills teaching, linking to resources, advocacy and monitoring may all be components of an individualized case management plan.
In North York, where supportive housing options are almost non-existent, the program has developed new partnerships and linkages with other services in order to meet the complex needs of the homeless population.
