if you’d have asked
what my plans for the
future were, I wouldn’t
have been able to tell you."
LOFT Supports for Youth
LOFT provides supportive housing to some 175 transitional aged youth (16 to 24) each year whose circumstances put them at serious risk. Many have a background of physical or sexual abuse, an absence of family support, and mental illness or addiction issues.
Our focus is on helping these young people to find hope and alternatives to their current situations, and to take steps to improve their safety, health, skills and future well-being through stable housing, support from people who care about them, as well as life skills and employment training.
LOFT is the only provider of post-treatment residential services for young women with addiction issues wishing to live in an abstinent environment.
LOFT also provides one of the few non-hostel community housing programs for transitional aged youth, giving youth the ability to co-operatively manage their own homes and provide mutual support to each other.
