Planned Giving
The thousands of people that LOFT Community Services has helped since 1953 (when it was known as “Anglican Houses”) have benefited from the generosity of dozens of benefactors who have remembered LOFT in their wills. Gifts large and small have helped LOFT aid many people in need, by providing funding for important programming initiatives, in helping to purchase and renovate properties for the homeless, and by providing a stable funding base over the years.
The work of LOFT Community Services will continue as long as there are homeless and vulnerable people on the streets of Toronto and in York Region. Your ongoing commitment to making a difference for these people can go well beyond the daily maintenance of our programs and into to the long-term future of LOFT’s important work.
A Planned Gift, usually in the form of a bequest, allows you to make a gift to LOFT’s work which you couldn’t otherwise afford, since it comes from your lifetime’s accumulated assets. Planned Gifts also offer substantial tax savings to your estate, so that less goes out of your estate in taxes and more into the causes you love.
Sample Bequest Language
If you would like to include LOFT Community Services in your will, you can do so when you’re writing a new will, or by adding a codicil to an existing will. The type of language you want to use is:
“I hereby give and bequeath to LOFT Community Services, 205 Richmond St. W., Suite 301, Toronto, Ontario, M5V 1V3, the sum of $ _____________ “ [or, “_________% of my estate”; “or, __________ % of the residue of my estate after all other commitments have been paid”] “to be used for general purposes” [or, “for LOFT’s work with Youth, Adults, or Seniors”]
LOFT is happy to provide you with the Estate Planning resource, “Your Will and You”, free for the asking.
