Ingles House
Ingles House is a high-support
group home for nine young women aged 16-24 recovering from a serious
addiction, who wish to live in an abstinent environment. It is the
only post-treatment residential program of its type in Toronto.
Ingles House offers recovery and support services in a structured
environment where residents break with their old lifestyles and develop
new skills. The program offers counselling and life skills, and
encourages young women to build a support network, link with community
resources, and prepare for education and employment in the community.
Strong peer support is an important element of the Ingles House program.
Ingles also operates a
co-operative house where up to five young women manage their own smooth
transition from the structured environment of Ingles House itself to
fully independent living in the community.
A strong after-care program enables former residents to maintain their
connection with Ingles, and continue to benefit from the support
offered by staff and their peers while living independently in the
community.
While they live at Ingles
House, the women attend high school or college, are employed, or are
involved in day-treatment programs.
The program provides an atmosphere in which youth who are committed to
recovery from substance abuse can be empowered to realize their full
health potential in body, mind and spirit by living in a supportive,
non-violent, abstinent environment.
