Crosslinks Housing and Support Services

Crosslinks Housing and Support Services provides a range of supportive housing options including high-support and low-support housing and support for independent living in the community.  Crosslinks is the largest supportive housing provider in York Region.

Crosslinks is committed to assisting men and women 16 to 64, with serious mental illness and addiction challenges, to live with dignity in the community.  The program helps clients find appropriate housing, and provides case management and a range of support services to assist clients in making changes in their lives.  Services include assessment of needs, advocacy, crisis intervention and prevention, teaching life skills such as nutrition, cooking, budgeting and household management, and referral to other service providers as needed.

A major goal of Crosslinks is to make it unnecessary for people in York Region living with mental health and addiction challenges to leave the natural support networks of family, friends and community, to go to Toronto or other major urban centres in search of services.  To this end, Crosslinks is a partner in the operation of York Region’s only First Episode Program, offering specialized supportive housing for young people aged 16 to 24, who are experiencing their first psychotic episode.  Crosslinks is also a participant in the provincially funded Mental Health and Justice Initiative, providing supportive housing for people with mental health and addiction challenges, who are at risk of homelessness, and are currently involved in the criminal justice system.

For a number of years, Crosslinks Housing and Support Services operated York Region’s only street outreach van. In November, 2008, the van became a new LOFT program called Crosslinks Street Outreach.
